Sky: replace the receiver hard drive - how it works
With current Sky receivers, it is relatively easy to replace the hard drive. In this article, we will tell you how to do this.
Sky receiver: How to replace the hard drive
- Make sure that you use a hard drive compatible with your receiver. We recommend that you contact Sky Support for this.
- Disconnect the old hard drive from your receiver. To do this, press the menu button and select the "Safely remove hard disk" option in the "Recording settings" area.
- Switch off the receiver before connecting the new hard disk. Also pull out the mains plug.
- Place the new hard drive below the receiver.
- Insert the blue plug into the blue eSATA connector on the receiver. Then connect the magenta-colored plug to the magenta-colored USB port on the rear of the receiver.
- The black connector on the cable must be connected to the eSATA connector on the back of the hard drive.
- Then connect the receiver to a power source and start the device. The hard disk is usually recognized automatically.
