Sky Receiver shows exclamation marks - you can do that
If the Sky Receiver shows an exclamation mark, this can have different causes. In this practical tip, we explain what you can do about the error message.
Sky Receiver shows exclamation marks: Not always an error message
The exclamation mark is not always an error message from the Sky Receiver. Sometimes he just shows you that he's busy. In this case, you just have to wait and see.
- If the receiver is booting, an exclamation mark is displayed. The process usually takes about ten minutes, after which the sign disappears on its own.
- Even if the receiver is looking for updates, it shows an exclamation mark. However, this process should take a maximum of one hour. If the sign does not disappear automatically after this time, there is a fault.
Sky Receiver shows exclamation marks - how to fix the problem
If none of the causes mentioned in the first section is present, i.e. if the exclamation mark does not disappear on its own, there is a fault. In this case, you have several options to fix the problem:
- Like any system, the Sky Receiver can "hang up". Disconnect the power supply for a few minutes and then switch the receiver on again. It will then boot or possibly update. Afterwards the reception should work again without problems.
- Perhaps the received signal is disturbed so that it does not reach the receiver. Reasons for this could be snow in the satellite dish or a storm. Check your satellite dish and your reception signal.
- If you have ruled out all the sources of error mentioned, there may of course be a fault at Sky. Contact Sky customer service and inquire about any malfunctions or when they will be rectified.
