Reset Sky Receiver - Here's how
If your Sky Receiver hangs or stops working, you can reset the device. This way you can fix minor software bugs. We'll show you how to restore your device and what the difference is between hard and soft resets.
Reset Sky Receiver: Soft reset
With small problems, for example if your receiver has hung up, a simple soft reset usually helps:
- Disconnect a hard drive that may be connected to your receiver.
- Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet or from the connector on the back of the receiver.
- After about a minute, reconnect the cable and start the device.
Reset Sky Receiver: Hard reset
If the soft reset doesn't help, you can try the hard reset. All settings are reset to the factory settings:
- Disconnect all connected hard drives from the receiver and remove the power supply.
- Press and hold the Guide and Back buttons on the receiver at the same time.
- Reconnect the power cord and hold the buttons until the reset is done.
- This process takes about 30 to 45 minutes. The device then restarts and automatically performs a station search.
In another practical tip, we will tell you whether you can connect an external hard drive to your Sky receiver.
