Skype: Registration not possible - this may be the reason
In the following practical tip, we will tell you what reasons it may be that a registration with Skype is not possible.
Skype registration not possible: This may be the reason
There are a number of reasons why Skype registration may not work:
- Make sure you are using the correct Skype name and password. If you only know the e-mail address with which you registered, change your password if necessary using the corresponding option in the login window.
- Make sure you may not have registered using a Facebook or Microsoft account. It is also possible to reset the password here.
- Check if there is a problem with the internet connection. Close all running applications and, if necessary, end ongoing downloads.
- Make sure your computer's ports are open. Update your firewall settings if all target ports from 1024 (recommended) or ports 80 and 443 are restricted.
- Check that your computer meets the minimum Skype requirements. These are: Windows XP - Service Pack 3; Windows Vista or Windows 7 (32 and 64 bit versions are supported), Windows 8; Processor: at least 1 GHz; RAM: at least 256 MB; Additional software: DirectX from version 9.0. The requirements for Linux and Mac can be found on this website.
- Also, sign out of Skype and restart the program to make sure that Skype registration isn't already incorrectly accepted by your computer.
- Check that the correct proxy settings are available.
- If in doubt, reinstalling Skype can also help. Uninstall Skype completely beforehand.
- Run Skype as an administrator.
Only a blue screen is shown
If you don't even get to the login window, but instead get a blue Skype screen without login function, try the following steps:
- Reset the settings of Internet Explorer or the browser you are using.
- Create a log file and send it to customer support.
- Create a Skype shortcut on the desktop and enter "legacylogin" for the location of the element "C: \ Program Files \ Skype \ Phone \ Skype.exe". (For a 64-bit system "C: \ Program Files (x86) \ Skype \ Phone \ Skype.exe" / legacylogin). Finally, try to register using the link with your user data.
- Be sure to check beforehand that you have the latest Windows service package, the latest version of your browser and Skype installed.
