Skype: Transfer chat history to another PC
If you want to continue your old Skype chat history on a new system, you can easily transfer it. We show how it's done.
How to find and transfer your Skype chat history
To transfer your Skype chat history from one PC to another, you basically just need to copy and paste a single file.
- Press the key combination [Windows] + [R]. The "Run" window opens. Type in "appdata skype" and confirm by clicking "OK".
- Now the "Appdata" folder is opened. Navigate further in "Roaming" -> "Skype" and then the folder that bears your Skype name.
- In this folder you will find the file "main.db". It contains your chat logs.
- Windows 8 users can find the file at C: \ Users \\ AppData \ Local \ Packages \ Microsoft.SkypeApp \ Localstate \.
- Now replace the "main.db" file on the target PC with the "main.db" file on your old PC.
