Skype: Disk I / O error - what to do?
If the Disk I / O error occurs when logging into Skype, there is an error in the temporary data from Skype Messenger. We'll show you how to solve the problem.
Fix disk I / O error on Skype
Before following the instructions below, make sure you have the latest version of Skype installed. If this is not the case, download the current version from the CHIP download area.
- The first thing to do is to exit Skype completely so that the program is really closed.
- Then press the [Windows] and [E] keys simultaneously to open the Explorer.
- Enter the path "C: \ Users \ XXX \ AppData \ Roaming \ Skype" in the address destinations and confirm with the [Enter] key. In this case you have to replace the entry "XXX" with the name of your user account.
- Here, look for the folder that has your Skype username. Log in with your Microsoft account, but there is still the expression "live # 3" in front of the name.
- You must now completely delete this folder. If you don't want to lose your chat log, first copy the "main.db" file and the "chatsync" folder.
- Then start Skype, the folder will be created again and the login will work again.
- Note: If you have problems executing the instructions, you may have to activate the display of hidden files under Windows. We show you how this works in this guide.
We will show you how to activate the push-to-talk function in Skype and what it is exactly in the next practical tip.
