Update from March 1, 2017: Skype down
At the moment there seem to be problems with Skype for some users: contacts are shown as offline or Skype doesn't even connect. In this case, there is not much you can do but wait for Skype to fix the problem.
Skype down - that's it
- Check on heartbeat to see if the problem is not unique to you. On this page, which is managed by Skype itself, you can even check the individual services. A distinction is made between Skype SMS, call phones or registration. In the news displayed there you can read about all current problems that occur with Skype.
- On downrightnow you can also check whether downtime is a general problem or only occurs with you. If the Skype servers are really down, you will be informed here under "Current Status". You will then have to wait until the Skype service has got the problem under control.
- Alternatively, use the Skype web app during this time. This also works if the Skype server causes problems.
