Skype: set up headset and microphone - how it works
If you want to use Skype with telephony, you must first set up a headset and a microphone for use. You can find out how to do this in this practical tip.
Configure headsets and microphones for Skype - so it'll work
- First, connect your headset and microphone to your PC or Mac.
- Start Skype for Windows or Mac and open the menu bar "Settings" -> "Audio / Video".
- With "Microphone" you select your input device from the dropdown list and with "Speaker" your headset.
- Speak into your microphone if the volume indicator lights up.
- You can test the audio output with a test call.
Set up the headset and microphone in the Windows 10 app
- In the Windows 10 app, click your profile picture above.
- Then select the "Settings" item.
- Choose your headset under "Audio"> "Speakers". With a click on "audio test" you can play a test sound.
- Under "Microphone", select your external microphone or your headset again from the list.
- Then call the "Echo / Sound Test Service" from your contacts to test the headset.
