Delete Skype contacts (PC, Android, iOS) - so it'll work
Regardless of whether on the mobile phone, tablet or on the computer - unwanted Skype contacts can be deleted anywhere. We show you how to do this in detail.
Remove Skype contacts on the computer
The fastest way to delete old Skype contacts on the PC. Of course, Skype must be installed on your computer or Mac.
- Start the program and log in with your Skype account.
- Now right-click on the desired contact.
- Select the "Remove from contacts" entry in the dropdown menu (see photo). Confirm the warning to permanently delete the contact.
Delete Skype friends from the Android app
Android users can also delete unwanted contacts directly in the Skype app. To do this, proceed as follows:
- Start the Android app and switch to the "Contacts" tab.
- Select the contact to be deleted there. The chat history now opens.
- Then tap the menu button on your smartphone and select "Delete contact". Confirm this warning with "Yes" to remove the person from your friends list.
Remove old contacts from the iPhone app
The whole thing works similarly in the iOS app. However, the iPad version differs from the iPhone version here.
- iPhone users first switch to the "Contacts" tab.
- Then select the desired contact to open the chat history.
- Now tap on the small gear and then on "Remove from contact list". Finally, a warning appears that you simply have to confirm.
Delete Skype contacts from iPad
It's even easier to delete contacts on iPad. To do this, proceed as follows:
- Start the iOS app and hold your finger on one of the contacts.
- The contacts now start to shake. To remove a person from your Skype list, simply tap on the "X" of the respective contact.
- Finally, tap "Remove" to permanently delete the contact.
Before you delete your contacts, you can pass them on to a friend for security. Note: This practical tip refers to the Skype version 6.11.0.102, as well as the app versions 4.5.0.39600 (Android) and 4.17 (iOS).
