Skype changes volume automatically - you can do that
If Skype changes the system volume of your computer during calls, it is either due to the configuration of Skype or Windows. We'll show you how to turn off volume adjustment.
Skype: Deactivate automatic volume change
By adjusting the volume, Skype only wants to prevent you from being annoyed or even startled by the already loud Skype ringtone at high volume. Of course, the option can also be deactivated:
- Click on "Actions" in the menu bar at the top and select the "Options".
- Change to the category "Audio Settings" on the left, there you will find the item "Speakers".
- Deactivate the option "Adjust these settings automatically".
- Your changes are accepted by clicking the "Save" button.
Windows: Skype volume changes automatically
When you receive a call via Skype or other software, the system sounds are usually reduced by 80 percent. This setting can be changed under Windows:
- Open the Control Panel and select the "Hardware and Sound" category.
- Click on the "Sound" item and switch to the "Communication" tab at the top.
- Select a desired option like "Do nothing" here.
- With the button "OK" your settings are accepted.
