Skype crashes - it could be that
If your Skype crashes, the version may be out of date or a system complication may occur. In this practical tip, we will show you how to get your Skype version up and running again.
Skype crashes - you can do that
If Skype crashes, you will also lose the connection to ongoing calls. Here's what you can do about it if Skype crashes:
- First of all, you should restart Skype. This was possibly a one-time crash with no further consequences.
- However, if the program crashes more often or even regularly, there is probably a software problem here.
- Therefore, you should make sure that you always have the latest version of Skype installed.
- You should also download and install all Windows updates.
- Maybe the program was blocked by another program running in parallel. Therefore, close all programs before starting Skype and try again.
- If this does not help you either, you should completely uninstall Skype. We will show you how to do this in the next paragraph.
Uninstall Skype completely - that's how it works
- First download and install the freeware Revo Uninstaller.
- Open the tool and search for "Skype".
- Double-click the name and select "Moderate" as the uninstallation method.
- Click through the wizard and make sure that folders and registry entries are marked and removed with "Delete".
- Once the uninstallation has been successfully completed, restart your PC.
- You can then reinstall Skype.
These instructions are based on Revo Uninstaller 1.95 and Skype 7.4.0 on Windows 7. If you have further problems, you can also contact Skype customer service.
