Skype connection keeps dropping - what to do?
If the Skype connection breaks constantly, it can be quite annoying. We show you possible solutions in this practical tip.
Connection problems with Skype - you can do that
With Skype you can make calls to your friends as long as the connection is not interrupted. We have summarized what you can do in such cases here:
- First, make sure you have the latest version of Skype. To do this, go to "Help"> "Check for updates" and update the program if necessary.
- Check if other programs or downloads are running in the background. If so, end these processes so Skype can use the full bandwidth.
- Also make sure that there are not too many other people in the same network who download, play online games or otherwise consume traffic.
- There may also be a problem with your internet connection. Therefore try a different LAN cable or connect a LAN cable if you are using WLAN. This is far less susceptible to interference than a wireless connection.
- If Skype is unable to establish a connection at all, your Windows firewall or your antivirus program may be blocking Messenger. Therefore, include Skype in the exceptions of the firewall and the antivirus tool.
- If you have any further problems, contact your Internet provider to rule out any problems with the line.
