Skype: restore history - how it works
In Skype, you can also chat with your friends in addition to phone calls. There are several ways to restore the deleted history of a contact. We show you the exact procedure in this practical tip.
Restore Skype history - so it'll work
Skype regularly makes a backup of your chat history. You can restore these backups at any time in the telephony software:
- To do this, start Messenger and log in with your account data.
- Then double click on the chat whose history you want to restore.
- Click the timestamp above to choose how far you want to jump back in chat.
On a new PC: manually restore Skype history
If you switch to a new PC with Skype, the recovery does not work via the program itself. In this case, you have to copy the Skype folder from your old computer:
- To do this, open Windows Explorer and navigate to the path "C: \ Users \” your Windows user name ”\ AppData \ Roaming \ Skype". Replace "your Windows username" with your actual username in Windows.
- Then go to the folder named after your Skype username.
- Copy this folder and paste it on your new PC in the same path. Then when you log in to Skype, chat history is automatically restored.
