Slack: delete channels - how it works

You can delete a Slack channel with just a few clicks if it is no longer relevant to you. After deletion, the channel is permanently lost and cannot be restored. In case of doubt it is more advisable to archive.

You can easily delete your Slack Channel. If you don't want to delete your channel entirely, read on below how to archive your channel.
Deleting a Slack Channel works in four easy steps:
- Go to the gear on the top right, which stands for "Settings", next to the search bar.
- Click on "Additional Options ...".
- Select "Delete this channel" at the bottom.
- Confirm the deletion of the channel by ticking the box and then click on "Delete Channel".

If you are not sure whether you might need the channel again later, please archive it.
This also works in four simple steps:
- Go to the gear on the top right, which stands for "Settings", next to the search bar.
- Click on "Additional Options ...".
- Select the top item "Archive this channel".
- Confirm the archive by clicking "Yes, archive the channel".
