Via the app you can use your smartphone as a remote control for your PC. We show you how this works in this guide.
Use your smartphone as a PC remote control
With the "Unified Remote" app you can control your PC remotely. The application is available for free download from CHIP Online.
- When you open the application for the first time, a short instruction on how to use it appears. However, the app is largely self-explanatory.
- The free version of "Unified Remote" offers, among other things, a function to replace the mouse with a touch. A file manager is also on board. You can also use a tool to control YouTube.
- The full version costs € 3.49 (as of August 8, 2014) and offers additional functions such as voice control.
- However, the free version is completely sufficient for everyday use to control the PC without a mouse.
Install "Unified Remote" on the PC
To be able to connect your mobile phone to your computer, you have to install the "Unified Remote" server.
- Download and install the program on your PC.
- Start "Unified Remote" with a double click and click "OK". Now you can access the PC with your smartphone.
- The connection between the computer and smartphone is realized via WLAN. To do this, both devices must be in the same network.
- After installation, "Unified Remote" always starts automatically when you turn on your computer. This means that you can use the app immediately after system start.
