The touchscreen of smartphones can usually not be operated with normal gloves. With special gloves or a self-made variant, you can also use your smartphone in winter without freezing. We'll show you how it's done.
Special smartphone gloves
The fact that gloves are usually not recognized by the display is due to the lack of conductivity of the clothing. But there are special gloves in which conductive material is processed. With these you can operate modern smartphones without any problems. Here we present some models that cost between 5 and 20 euros:
- 4.50 euros: One of the cheapest models is available for less than 5 euros. However, you should not approach the highest expectations regarding material and durability here.
- 9.99 euros: This mid-range model is well received by Amazon customers and is available in black and navy.
- 12.99 euros: These (ladies) gloves come in a bit more colorful and are available in different colors.
- From 14.99 euros: The somewhat higher quality product makes a robust impression and is described as a sports glove.
- 19.99 euros: smartphone gloves are not only made of fabric, but also of leather. However, this version is also more expensive than the competition.
Home-made brand: Use your smartphone with gloves
- How it works: Sew a conductive thread into one of your gloves so that it touches your finger on the inside and the display on the outside. The electrical impulses emanating from your finger can then be passed through the glove. For starters, we have a sewing tutorial for beginners.
- You need it: all you need is a needle and a conductive thread. Such a yarn is slightly more expensive than normal yarn and is available in many craft and household goods stores.
- Instructions: Since you only have to work on one finger of your glove, the time required is relatively short. Turn the glove inside out and sew a small pattern in the fingertip area of the index finger, for example. It can be a circle, square or something similar. It is only important that the thread is pierced several times through the glove. Knot the two ends, cut the thread and turn the glove over again. You should now be able to operate your smartphone with it.
