You can attach a smartphone protective film with a few tricks without unsightly air pockets. In this practical tip we will show you how. In the video, YouTuber Tim from allsmartrepair also shows you what the attachment looks like in practice.
Step 1: Clean the smartphone display for the protective film
First you have to clean the display of your smartphone. Otherwise, bubbles form at the points where there is contamination.
- Place the smartphone on a dust-free surface. Provide a glass cleaner, the protective film, adhesive tape and a cloth - preferably a microfiber cloth.
- Spray on the cloth with the glass cleaner. Then wipe the cloth on the display of your smartphone.
- You can check whether your display is free of dust by looking diagonally at the display and holding it slightly in the light.
Step 2: Apply protective film to the smartphone display
Now you can apply the protective film to your smartphone display. You must ensure that the protective film is flush with the display.
- Pull the cover off the protective film slightly, but not completely.
- Glue the beginning of the protective film to your display. If the protective film is properly seated, pull the cover off further. At the same time, attach the rest of the protective film to your display. This is automatically placed on your smartphone display because it is electrostatically charged.
- Correct any bubbles immediately. Even if you discover grains of dust, you must remove them. Take a strip of adhesive tape, for example, and use it to fish out the speck of dust.
Step 3: repair air pockets on the screen
Despite everything, air pockets can still occur. However, these can be easily repaired:
- If the air is not trapped by a speck of dust, you can simply remove the blister with your fingernail or a card. To do this, swipe the bubble to the edge of the display.
- If the blister is dirty, you can fix the problem with two strips of tape. To do this, attach a strip of the adhesive tape to the protective film. Use it to pull up the film. You can grab and remove the dirt with another strip. Then simply put the protective film back on.
