Block SMS reception on Android
In this practical tip, you can read how you can quickly disconnect your android from the mobile network or WLAN and thus block the receipt of SMS.
Flight mode puts your android in a deep sleep
The quickest and easiest way to switch off the SMS reception is to activate the flight mode. If this is active, all radio connections (3G, WALN) are automatically switched off. Of course, you can still use your android in this mode. However, the functions of apps that require an internet connection are limited. To activate airplane mode:
- Up to Android 4.0.1: Go to "Settings" and under "Wireless and networks" tap on "Additional settings". Then tap on the "Offline mode" entry.
- Android 4.1.2 and higher: Hold down the power button for about one to two seconds. The "Device Options" pop-up window appears. Here tap on "offline mode".
Block SMS reception using free apps
There are also apps that either automatically activate flight mode or work as a kind of spam filter:
- The "Battery Widget Reborn" app automatically activates offline mode at the times you specify. This is extremely practical, especially at night.
- "SMS Filter" blocks messages from phone numbers that are in the "blacklist". You can move any number of numbers from your phone book to the blacklist and delete them again. In comparison to flight mode, you can still be reached for desired contacts.
