If you want to send your mails via a corresponding program, you must set them up using SMTP and the associated ports. You can find out which ports are used by default for SMTP in this practical tip.
These are the standard ports of SMTP
The POP3 and IMAP standards are responsible for receiving e-mails. The standard SMTP, on the other hand, is responsible for sending and forwarding mails.
- The standard port of SMTP is port 25.
- Ports 2525 or 587 are also used frequently.
- If you want to use Outlook or another e-mail collection service, you should use port 587. Sufficient encryption of your emails is only guaranteed via this port.
