The new Snapchat update does not appeal to all users. If you count this, you can undo the update. In this practical tip, we will show you how to do this for iOS and Android.
Undo Snapchat update on Android - Here's how
On Android you can easily undo the Snapchat update.
- To go back to an older version of Snapchat on Android, first open your smartphone's settings and look for "Apps" or "Applications".
- In this list, select "Snapchat" and open the app info.
- Tap the "Uninstall updates" button and then restart your Android smartphone. Now the original Snapchat version should be loaded again.
Undo Snapchat update on iPhone - Here's how
On iOS it is not so easy to undo a Snapchat update. You must have backed up an older version somewhere.
- If you have an older version of Snapchat on another iPhone, you can use it. This also works if you have backed up your mobile phone in iTunes.
- First, delete Snapchat from your iPhone. You will receive the message that your data will also be deleted, but your contacts and past snaps will be retained.
- The next step is to prevent the update from being installed again. To do this, open the settings on your smartphone and select "iTunes & App Stores". Disable the automatic downloads of apps and updates here using the sliders.
- Now connect your iPhone to the computer and start iTunes. At the top left you will find a dropdown menu: Here select "Apps". If you had an older version of Snapchat saved in a backup, this will now be displayed in your media library.
- Click the Snapchat icon and then click "Install". If your iPhone is synchronized, you will have the older version of Snapchat on your phone again.
