The Sonos One loudspeaker has established itself on the market due to its impressive sound quality. Amazon voice assistant Alexa and the Google Assistant are also on board. Below we show you how to set up the Sonos One.
How to create a Sonos account
A Sonos account is required to set up and use the Sonos One speaker. In the following steps, we'll show you how to create one.
- First install and open the Sonos Controller app on your smartphone.
- Now you have to click on "Set up a new Sonos system". If you already own other Sonos products, you can simply press "Connect to existing system" and speed up the setup.
- You will then need to authorize the app to access your location.
- The app asks if you want to connect via Bluetooth. Negate this to establish a WLAN connection.
- You can then create a new account. To do this, you must provide your email and accept the data protection regulations.
- In the next step you will receive an email in which you can confirm your account.
- After the successful completion of the confirmation, you only need to determine your location and your postal code.
- Your new account is now connected to the Sonos app and you can start setting up the Sonos One.
Set up Sonos One over WiFi
After connecting your account to the app, you can start setting up the speaker. To do this, the Sonos One must have a power supply.
- Press "Continue" to start setting up on the WiFi.
- In the next step, select the standard setup.
- Now the app searches for the speaker and establishes a connection.
- To continue wireless setup you need to enter your network password.
- If this process does not work, a cable connection to the router is required.
- Take the supplied LAN cable and connect it to both your Internet router and the Sonos One.
- When the connection is made by cable you have to wait for the green flashing light on the speaker.
- Then press the button on the back of the Sonos One and wait for a tone.
- You can then confirm the successful connection again in the app and continue with the setup.
- In the following you can select one of the displayed rooms or name one according to your ideas.
- Next, adding other speakers is suggested. Press "Not Now" if you don't have any more. An addendum is possible at any time in the app.
- Updates are searched for and the speaker is updated. Do not disconnect any of the connections to avoid errors.
- The connection is re-established and confirmed.
- After completing the updates, you will need to re-enter the password from your router and wait for a connection if it did not work the first time.
- The Sonos One is then registered and you can disconnect it from both the power and the router so that you can put it in its final place.
- Then reconnect it to the power and wait for the light to turn white.
- Now you can add music services in the app or complete the setup process.
- After explaining the functions of the app, the setup of the Sonos One is finished and is free to use.
