Sophos update: how to update the software
You can update the Sophos virus scanner in just a few steps. You should do this regularly to ensure safe operation. In this practical tip, we will show you how to perform the Sophos update and how to activate the automatic update.
Update Sophos: This is how the update works
You can update Sophos in just a few steps. If you carry out regular updates, the virus scanner update takes only a few seconds. To ensure that your Sophos virus database is always up to date, you should activate the auto-update. How this works is described in the picture gallery,
- In the taskbar notification area, at the bottom right of your screen, select Sophos by right-clicking on the Sophos "S".
- Select "Update now" here.
- A window appears that shows you the progress of the update (see picture).
- After the update, the window closes automatically.
- If your automatic Sophos update does not work, you can simply replace the IDE file from the installation folder with a working installation of another computer, as recommended by Sophos.
- If you have installed Sophos on a computer without an internet connection or with a low transfer rate, you can download the latest virus identity files from another PC from the official Sophos website as a ZIP archive and transfer them via USB stick.
This practical tip applies to Sophos Endpoint Security and Control 10.3. If you have already caught a virus, you should remove the malware as soon as possible.
