Autoplay video sound on Facebook: How to turn it off
Autoplay videos on the Facebook feed will soon be played directly with sound. In this article, we show you how to switch off the sound on your desktop version and on your smartphone.
Sound from autoplay videos on Facebook
Previously, you could only hear the sound of the video if you tapped it. By updating the Facebook app, the sound should be played automatically. As long as your smartphone is set to silent, you are not affected. If you haven't yet turned off autoplay on Facebook, the update could get on your nerves sooner or later. We show you how to turn off the sound of autoplay videos in the desktop version, on iOS and on Android.
Switch off sound in the desktop version
If you still want to play auto-play videos as usual, but without sound, you can simply switch off the sound in your settings.
- Click the down arrow in the top right corner of your profile.
- Select the "Settings" tab.
- Navigate to the "Videos" section.
- Select the area "Start videos in the news feed with sound" the option "Off" / "Off".
Autoplay videos without sound on iOS
Open the Facebook app on your iPhone or iPad and log in to your account.
- Click on the sandwich symbol, these are the three horizontal lines, in the lower right corner of the display.
- Navigate to "Settings -> Account Settings -> Sounds".
- Uncheck "Start videos in the news feed with sound".
Autoplay video sound on Facebook: How to turn it off on Android
Open the Facebook app on your Android device and log in to your account.
- Click on the three horizontal lines in the upper right corner of the display.
- Scroll down to the "App Settings" and tap on it.
- Uncheck "Start videos in the news feed with sound".
If the option is not yet displayed, the update is not yet active for you. Please try again later. However, you must completely deactivate autoplay videos on Facebook in your browser, as there is no option for switching off the sound in this case.
