Improve sound quality on the laptop - the best tips
The best tips for improving the sound quality on a laptop are presented in this guide. This way you get the most out of your laptop with songs and films.
Improve sound quality on the laptop: make the fine adjustments
With a few tricks you can improve the sound quality directly on the laptop:
- Save on high volume to avoid loss of quality. A volume of approx. 80% is usually sufficient.
- If you have an equalizer available in the settings of your system or media player, you should use it. However, you should only operate the corresponding controls with caution and according to your conscience.
- You can find these settings in Windows Media Player by switching to "Current playback" and right-clicking in a free area. Select "Extensions" and then "SRS WOW Effects".
- In the VLC media player, it is sufficient to press the key combination [Ctrl] + [E] to open the equalizer.
- Open the "Sound" option in the Control Panel and double-click on "Speakers". Under "Improvements" you will find further settings. Here you can experiment until the desired result is achieved.
- It's best to adjust the elevation settings to get a good result.
Alternative: buy external boxes
Built-in laptop speakers cannot give you the sound quality that external speakers do.
- You can choose between so-called "active" and "passive boxes". Active boxes require an independent power supply via a mains cable, while "passive" boxes often use a battery.
- We recommend that you only buy a device after you have tested it beforehand. Otherwise there are sometimes nasty surprises when unpacking and listening at home.
- You can get good boxes for just 20 euros, there are almost no limits to the top. A good sound system from Bose, for example, can sometimes cost several hundred euros. You will find the right speakers in our type consultation.
- You can also try external sound cards. In this article, we introduce Creative's external Sound Blaster.
