Dishwasher does not drain - you can do that
If your dishwasher suddenly stops pumping, damage to your machine will result if you do not solve the problem. In addition, the dishes are no longer clean because the performance decreases. We show in this article how you can solve the problem.
The dishwasher does not drain the water
If your dishwasher does not pump the water at all or does not pump it properly, it is in most cases due to food residues and fats or other things blocking the drain. You can remove these residues yourself. However, if your dishwasher shows an error in the display, take your instructions for use. If this is not the case, proceed as follows:
- Unplug the dishwasher if you can easily access the cable. If this is not the case, switch off the fuse in the electrical box.
- Then remove all moving parts from the device - sieves, baskets and the washing arms.
- Then mix 1: 4 solution of vinegar essence - one part essence and four parts water. Then add a packet of baking soda. Always make sure that you never put essences or strong acidic and spicy agents directly into your dishwasher. Heat about half a liter of water.
- Inside the dishwasher you will find a strainer on the bottom. If possible, remove this. If it is not possible, you can carefully and slowly pour the hot water and the baking soda and essence mixture into the sieve.
- Let the water, essence and baking powder "stand" in the drain for ten minutes and work well. Repeat the process again if you do not have the impression that the mixture went well. Then plug the power back in and let the dishwasher start idling one or two times without dishes.
- If the water runs off as before the constipation, you have repaired the damage. You can clear the machine again.
- However, if the machine still does not pump, you should definitely call a craftsman. Weigh the current value of the machine. A price comparison between repair and new purchase is actually always worthwhile.
More solutions to the problem
If the strainer is easy to remove, check it for dirt.
- If larger food residues have accumulated here, the water cannot drain off. Then clean the strainer under running water and put it back in again.
- The cause may not be in the machine, but in the drain hose. Leftover food can make it this far and then clog the tube. You can easily determine that.
- The dishwasher drain hose is connected to the sink siphon. Place a bucket underneath and disconnect the hose from the siphon. Hold the hose in the bucket to let it drain.
- If the hose is blocked, you have two options to clear it: either blow hard into the hose or use a suction syringe. If the hose is free, reconnect it to the siphon.
- However, if it is very dirty, you have to remove it completely and clean it - or you can connect the dishwasher with a new drain hose.
