Arrange the dishwasher correctly: This will make your cutlery clean
How to properly dispose of the dishwasher is more or less known to most. Nevertheless, it always happens that you clean the dishwasher and, of all things, the cutlery looks worse after cleaning than before.
Cutlery in the dishwasher - so it gets really clean
Large parts such as spatulas can be placed in the side shelves or in the upper area of the dishwasher. These parts take up too much space in the cutlery basket and, in the worst case, the rinsing arm strikes against it or is blocked.
- For cleaning, it basically doesn't matter how you place the cutlery in the cutlery compartment. For practical and hygienic reasons when putting the dishwasher in and, above all, clearing it out, it makes sense to align the cutlery handles upwards. It is particularly important that you do not overfill the cutlery basket.
- If you have silver cutlery, you should not put it too quickly in the dishwasher. As a precaution, check in advance what the manufacturer recommends.
- If in doubt, wash the good cutlery better by hand. In addition, it is always advisable to briefly clear silverware from food residues under running water before it goes into the dishwasher.
- This is all the more true if you have prepared sulfur-containing foods such as onions or garlic. Although sulfur is healthy for us, it doesn't go well with silver cutlery.
- In addition, you should always sort silver cutlery into the cutlery basket separately from other metals so that the different materials do not come into contact with one another during cleaning. Otherwise you run the risk of the silver cutlery tarnishing.
- Cutlery or cutlery items made of materials such as copper or brass can also be tricky. Regardless of the fact that it would be a shame about the old darlings, there is another reason to wash such kitchen utensils by hand.
- Old brass or copper parts are extremely susceptible to rust. If the rust particles settle in the dishwasher, you will find them on your other cutlery.
- Small rust particles are also a reason why you should clean the dishwasher regularly. Bacteria and germs can also accumulate in the dishwasher over time.
Dishwasher - you should avoid these mistakes
One of the most elementary tips for clean dishes and cutlery is: Do not put too much in the dishwasher.
- The result of an overfilled dishwasher is that neither spray nor cleaning agents reach the dishes and food residues inevitably stick. This particularly applies to cutlery.
- Tip: The strongest spray is at the bottom, so you should place particularly dirty dishes there.
- A negligence that is likely to happen to everyone every now and then is not enough or a lack of dishwasher salt in the dishwasher. A small mistake with a big impact.
In addition to these errors, there can be numerous other reasons why the dishes in the dishwasher are not properly cleaned. We have listed possible causes and troubleshooting measures in a separate article.
