Dishwasher doesn't draw water - that's why
If your dishwasher does not draw water, there can be several reasons. Before you prepare yourself for an expensive repair by a specialist, you should start troubleshooting. You can solve some problems yourself with a little skill.
Dishwasher does not draw water: Check the inlet hose
There is no technical problem if the dishwasher does not draw water. Perhaps only the inlet hose is kinked.
- If the machine has been in place for a long time, it is unlikely that the hose will suddenly kink. With devices that have just been installed, the error can be right here.
- If you are lucky, you can check and correct the flow of the inlet hose from the connection under the sink. If not, you have to remove the device again and pull it forward about 20 centimeters.
- Then push the dishwasher back into place slowly and piece by piece. In doing so, pull the hose slowly and carefully from behind so that it does not kink.
This happens when the water pressure is too low
Also check whether the requirements for the function are met. Sometimes only the necessary water pressure is missing.
- If the backflow preventer is calcified in the tap, water no longer flows at the pressure required for the dishwasher. You can check for yourself whether this is the case: simply place a bucket under the tap and turn the water on. There is sufficient pressure if five liters of water run into the bucket within 15 seconds.
- If the tap did not pass the test, first close the main tap and let the rest of the water drain out of the pipe. All you have to do is turn on the tap on the sink and wait until there is no more water.
- Then pull the rotary knob off the tap. Tip: Wrap a thin towel around it. Then the remaining water flows into the bucket in the next step.
- Now you can unscrew the exposed upper part of the tap and clean it carefully. Then grease the parts with silicone grease, screw the inner part back in and open the rotary knob. The water should now not flow with sufficient pressure.
Defect in the outlet valve of the heat exchanger in the device
To control this part of the appliance, you must remove the dishwasher and disconnect it from the power supply.
- To get to the outlet valve, you have to unscrew the left side wall of the dishwasher. You will then see the valve at the bottom right.
- Prepare a few towels if there is still water in the heat exchanger. You can pull out the valve by turning it a quarter turn forward.
- Now you can pull off the valve and check whether rust has formed. If necessary, replace the valve.
