Detergent test: Winner at Stiftung Warentest
Stiftung Warentest tested detergent in 2015 and 2018 - with a similar result: If you are looking for good detergent to wash dishes, you cannot avoid a certain brand. There were particular problems in the pollutant test: 75 percent of all detergents tested contain questionable ingredients.
Detergent tested: Pril convinced Stiftung Warentest twice
Stiftung Warentest already tested detergents in 2015: At that time the focus was on cleaning power - but skin compatibility and environmental properties were also taken into account. In the new 2018 test, the experts also assessed how productive the detergent is and how well rinse works. Another new feature is that the agents have been tested for questionable ingredients. Pril can shine twice: a Priel product was the test winner in 2015 - Pril won again in the 2018 test.
- 2015: The Pril Kraft-Gel Ultra is the 1.3 test winner because it excellently cleans dishes from greasy food residues. Dried leftovers are also removed well. Fairy's Ultra Plus concentrate achieved a similar result in 2015 (grade 1.4).
- 2018: The Pril Kraft Gel Ultra Plus has become the test winner with the grade 1.6 under more stringent conditions. It is very economical and reliably cleans dishes from dirt. In addition, it is skin-friendly and contains no critical ingredients. Only the dosage is not so easy - you often take too much.
Only 2 out of 26 detergents are "good" in the test
In addition to the Pril Kraft Gel Ultra Plus, the Akuta Original concentrate from ALDI Nord has also been rated "Good". All other products performed significantly worse in the 2018 test:
- 19 of the 26 detergents tested contain the preservative methyl isothiazolinone. Even in small doses, this can cause an allergy, so that every skin contact leads to a rash. Among other things, isothiazolinones also appear in wall paints, which is why entire schools had to be closed. In cosmetics that stay on the skin, methylisothiazolinone is even prohibited.
- There is a limit of 15 mg / kg for washable cosmetics and creams. However, Stiftung Warentest sometimes found a concentration of 95 mg / kg. According to experts, this high concentration can trigger allergic reactions. It is therefore advisable to do without detergents containing methyl isothiazolinone and to wear gloves when rinsing.
Detergent: New test - different results
Even if Pril won the test in 2015 and 2018 with two different detergents, you should not apply these results to all Pril products.
- The test has shown that Pril Original also contains methyl isothiazolinone and therefore only cuts off moderately. In the 2015 test without pollutant analysis, there was hardly anything to complain about on the Pril Original.
- Just as the Pril Original crashed in the 2018 test, the Ultra Plus concentrate from Fairy fared as well: In 2015, it was the second best ("very good") and is now one of the mediocre dishwashing detergents with methylisothiazolinone.

Eco detergent in the test: the better alternative?
With so many detergents with pollutants, it is understandable that many prefer to use eco detergents. That is why Stiftung Warentest also tested three products:
- The good news: All three eco detergents are free of harmful ingredients.
- The bad news: All three detergents still failed because they simply don't clean well. They are "hardly better than pure water, " writes Stiftung Warentest.
- By the way, Öko-Test also found in June 2018 that all detergents with strong detergents have critical ingredients and that all agents are hardly effective without such ingredients.
