Spamhaus: Remove Virus - Here's how
The Spamhaus virus is a malicious program that blocks access to programs and files. This practical tip shows you how to remove the virus.
Spamhaus virus: what is it exactly?
- The Spamhaus virus is a so-called ransomware program. The criminals behind the virus use the name of a nonprofit that fights the spread of spam and tries to protect computer users.
- The Spamhaus organization generally does not block computers and does not charge any fines.
- After logging in, the virus causes a message to appear on the screen saying that the computer is locked due to the illegal spread of spam and malware.
- The PC can be activated within 48 hours by means of a payment of more than $ 300.
- Under no circumstances should you make the payment, it would not unlock the computer. Instead, you can remove the virus with a suitable program.
Remove Spamhaus Virus: Use a different user account
If you use multiple user accounts on your PC, one of them may not be affected.
- Turn off the computer, restart it, and log in with a different user account.
- If any of them are not affected by the virus, download the free Malwarebytes Anti-Malware software here.
- Start the program and carry out a complete system check. The tool detects the virus and lists it. Remove all finds and restart the computer.
Remove Spamhaus virus: End process
The virus runs as a background process. You can try closing it through Task Manager:
- Press [Ctrl] + [Alt] + [Del] and select Task Manager.
- In the "Processes" tab you can see all processes that are currently running on your PC.
- The Spamhaus virus disguises itself as "rasadhlp.exe" or similar. Close processes with this name one after the other. If the message disappears, you can use your PC again.
- Download the free Malwarebytes Anti-Malware software and do a full system scan with it. Remove all finds and restart the computer.
Remove Spamhaus virus: Start PC in safe mode
If the virus doesn't stop, then start your computer in safe mode next. Only the most necessary programs are started and the Spamhaus virus should remain inactive.
- Turn off the computer and start it in safe mode.
- Log in with the user account concerned.
- Now check the autostart programs. The virus should also be among them.
- In Windows 7 press [Windows] and [R] simultaneously and type in the "msconfig" window. Select the "System start" tab. Deactivate unknown programs from the autostart.
- In Windows 8 and 10, right-click in an empty area in the task bar and select "Task Manager". In the "Autostart" tab, deactivate all programs that are unknown to you.
- Restart your computer in normal mode, download the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware program and do a full system scan. Remove all finds and restart the computer.
