Sparkasse: Use mobile payment - everything important at a glance
Pay with mobile payment - the Sparkasse makes it possible for you to pay money almost anywhere via smartphone. In this practical tip you can read what you need for this and how app payments work.
Sparkasse customers can pay with Mobile Payment without a Girocard
"Mobile payment" or "Mobile Payment" works if you have an Android smartphone with an NFC chip, a Girocard or Mastercard from the Sparkasse and the right app. for iOS devices and other operating systems there is initially no possibility to use the offer (as of August 2018). How the secure payment method works:
- To use the function safely, use pushTAN. Install the Sparkasse's official S-pushTAN app. You can find the app in the Google Play Store.
- You then register your card from the Sparkasse in the app. The data is stored encrypted on your smartphone, while the real data on the card is only stored on a Sparkasse server, but not on your mobile device.
- As soon as the process is complete, you can start using Mobile Payment immediately. You will then no longer need your bank card to pay at compatible terminals.
Where can I use mobile payment?
In order for you to be able to actually use Mobile Payment from the Sparkasse, one prerequisite must be fulfilled:
- Mobile payment only works at terminals where contactless payment is possible. So far, this has been possible at around half of all terminals and is therefore supported in a large number of supermarkets.
- To pay, all you have to do is hold your smartphone close to the field of the terminal. The device usually signals with a beep that the payment data has been stored.
- The data is transferred and if successful, read "Payment made" on the terminal. Then your receipt will be printed.
The payment method via NFC is pretty safe when transferring. However, unauthorized scanning of the chip is a source of danger. You can prevent this by properly protecting your NFC-enabled devices.
