Spartan vs. Chrome: The browser comparison
If you don't have Windows 10 yet, you can do the Spartan vs. Don't run Chrome yourself. We show you what the browsers are capable of and who wins in the end.
Spartan against Chrome - the duel of browsers
- Read mode: The new read mode in Spartan works similarly to that on an iPhone. Only the text of a website is displayed in a legible, reformatted format. However, this function is also expected soon in Chrome.
- Notes: The second feature, which Microsoft highly praises, enables you to take notes on websites and then save them. If this function is also important to a Chrome user, it can also be imitated with a screenshot and paint.
- Speed: Although Spartan is a lot faster than Internet Explorer, in our speed test Microsoft's new browser still does not quite match Chrome's speed.
- Extensions: Like Internet Explorer, Spartan should already be equipped with the most important functions. However, Microsoft has now announced that it will offer more third-party extensions. The Chrome Web Store has had thousands of extensions and even games for the browser for years.
- Windows: Like OneDrive and the voice assistant Cortana, Spartan is part of Windows. Spartan thus integrates the OneDrive cloud storage for storing and sharing content. For example, if Cortana knows about your booked flight, the appropriate information appears in Spartan as soon as you enter the name of the airline in the address and search line.
Spartan vs. Chrome - who wins?
- Microsoft didn't exactly reinvent the browser with Spartan, but the old image of Internet Explorer is at least partially thrown overboard. The browser is much faster, but a bit slower than Chrome.
- The integration of Cortana and OneDrive offers some users some added value, but the browser remains rather poor in functions. This is mainly due to the still missing market for add-ons. Chrome offers a wide range of functions and games by offering various extensions.
