Speedport: Set up guest access - how it works
If you want to make your WiFi available to guests without giving them the password, guest access helps. This practical tip explains how you can set up a guest access with a Speedport router from Telekom.
Set up guest access with the Speedport router
- As a Telekom customer, you will receive a current Speedport router as standard.
- In contrast to a Fritz! Box, this cannot provide guest access directly.
- However, you can use the Telekom function "Telekom fon" (or "WLAN TO GO") to activate your Speedport router as a generally usable hotspot. This means that your guests can also log into your WiFi network without entering their password.
- However, the login requires the entry of the Telekom email address ( ) with the associated password. Your guests must therefore be Telekom customers themselves or at least have an email address at Telekom. Other guests cannot use the hotspot. Up to six guests can log in at the same time.
- As a Telekom customer, this function is activated by default. Your guests then simply use the "WLAN TO GO" access point.
- If you have deactivated this function yourself, you can reactivate it at any time via the Telekom Customer Center.
- To reactivate guest access, follow the instructions in our next practical tip. In the 4th point, simply select "Register" instead of "Unsubscribe".
In another practical tip, we will show you how you can also set up your Speedport router as a fax.
