Speedport Hybrid: Connect the phone and set it up - how it works
In our practical tip, you will learn how to connect and set up a telephone to the Speedport Hybrid. Because the days are gone that all you had to do was connect a phone to the phone socket and start calling straight away. This no longer works with a Telekom hybrid connection.
Registration and setup of a DECT phone
You can use the Speedport Hybrid as a DECT base station. You will need a handset like the Speedphone.
- Enter the address of the router //speedport.ip or its IP 192.168.2.1 in your web browser and log in to the configuration program using your device password, which you can find on the bottom of the router.
- Navigate to the "Telephony" menu item and select the "DECT base station" item from the list on the left.
- Switch on the DECT function and assign a PIN code with which you can later register your handset. The default PIN is 0000.
- Select the subsection "Registered cordless phones" and click on the "Register handset" button to register your switched-on DECT telephone. You can also press the "Register / WPS" button on your Speedport Hybrid.
- Now the indicator light of the "Login / WPS" button flashes. Switch to your DECT phone and register with the base station. For this you need the above-mentioned PIN.
- Tip: You can also use a cell phone or smartphone as a DECT phone.
Connect and set up an analog phone or base station for a cordless phone
- Plug the TAE plug of your analog telephone into one of the two TAE sockets on the back of the Speedport Hybrid.
- Start the configuration program of your router by opening the address of the router //speedport.ip or its IP 192.168.2.1 with your web browser and entering the device password.
- Click on "Telephony" in the menu bar and then in the list on the left on "Internet Telephony". Enter the telephone numbers assigned by Telekom together with the area code. You can also enter the phone numbers and access data of another provider if you press "Create another provider".
- Under "Call number assignment" you determine which connected telephony device should use which of your call numbers.
- If you click on "Telephone jacks" in the list on the left, you will get an overview of the devices connected to the TAE jacks and the assigned phone numbers. Here you can set whether another caller can "knock" during an ongoing call and whether your analog phone should display information from the Telekom-SprachBox, if this is supported by the phone.
- In the item "Setting phone numbers" you determine whether a phone number is available for several calls at the same time. So you can make calls to two phones at the same time with the same number. Here you can also set whether your phone number is suppressed for outgoing calls. If you are on the phone and want other callers to hear the classic busy signal, reject further callers.
