Speedport: Release port - how it works
If you cannot access a specific service via your computer, you must open the port in your Speedport router. We show you how to do this.
Speedport: preparations for port release
Usually the release of a port is required for the multiplayer mode of a PC game. For security reasons, routers and computers keep blocking necessary ports.
- To set up sharing, you need to access the Speedport router through the browser. This works either via the IP address 192.168.2.1 or the website speedport.ip.
- You need your personal password to log in. If you have not changed the password, it is usually "0000" or "admin".
- You can usually find the ports to be activated via a Google search for the corresponding game or service.
Enable the port on the Speedport router
- Select the "Network" under the "Configuration" category on the left.
- If you click on the "NAT & Port Rules" option below, a new rule will open.
- Check the box at "Activate port rule" and give the rule a name.
- The "Port forwarding" option should already be set under "Type of rule". If not, change it.
- Under "Valid for device" select the network device concerned. This is the computer for which you want to activate the port.
- If you have no special project, enter the desired ports in the line for UDP and TCP ports.
- If you want to activate more than one port at the same time, write them in the following format: 1111, 2222-2223
- Click the "Save" button to apply the rule and release the port.
Enable ports on the PC and other devices
In many cases, sharing with the router is not enough. You often have to activate the ports under Windows. If you want to go online with your gaming console, you also need special releases.
- Windows: Enable ports in the firewall
- PlayStation 4: Share ports
- PlayStation 3: Share ports
- Xbox One: Share ports
