Use Speedport W701v as a WiFi repeater - how it works
If you want to extend the range of your WiFi network, you can use the Speedport W701v as a repeater. In this practical tip, we will show you how to do this.
How it works: Use Speedport W701v as a repeater
You can easily expand your WLAN range by using your Speedport as a repeater alongside a second router:
- Log into the administration interface of the router by entering the address "speedport.ip" in your browser.
- If you have set a password, you must now enter it.
- Then click "Start configuration" and select "Network" from the menu on the left.
- Then click on "Repeater".
- Activate the repeater option by ticking "On".
- Then enter the MAC address of the first router. You can find this in the respective administration interface.
- Save the settings by clicking on "Save". For security reasons, you should briefly restart both routers so that all settings are fully adopted.
- Please note that both routers must be operated in the same WLAN radio channel, otherwise the repeater function of the Speedport router will not work. Another practical tip will tell you how to adjust both devices.
In network technology you will often find the term "access point" in addition to a repeater. In the next article, we will tell you the difference between repeaters and access points.
