There are several methods for your Windows 8.1 PC to start up and come out of standby without a lock screen. The solution via regedit is explained here or by screenshots in the picture gallery below. Alternatively, you can also follow the solutions that are listed in the analog practice tip for Windows 8.
- Press the Windows key and the "R" key at the same time.
- Enter "regedit" in the "Run" window.
- In the registry editor, go to the following folder: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / SOFTWARE / POLICIES / MICROSOFT / Windows / Personalization
- If the Personalization folder does not yet exist, just go to the MICROSOFT folder. Right-click in the right part of the editor and create a new key called "Personalization".
- Then right-click in this folder. Create a DWORD value for a 32-bit system and a QWORD value for a 64-bit system.
- You name the new value "NoLockScreen".
- Finally right click on the new value. A new window is opening up. Enter a 1 in the "Value" field.
- Restart your computer and you will no longer have a lockscreen.
