Spiders on Mars - does this really exist? NASA photos show black spots on the red planet that look something like arachnids. You can read what is really there and how the photos immediately found a place in the gaming community via Far Cry 5.
Are there really spiders on Mars?
As early as 2015, photos of Mars showed black spots that look like they have eight legs. These images, as well as newer images, make you think of spiders when you look at them - but arachnids do not exist on Mars. Due to the appearance, the spots are nevertheless traded as "spiders". Behind this is an explainable process:
- The spots are not living beings.
- In a certain region on Mars, carbon dioxide ice heats up in the rock during a season that is not comparable to any season on Earth.
- As a result, it changes its physical state and flows to the surface.
- The ice can only slowly press to the surface and this creates the fanned out shape that looks like spider legs in the photos.
Fight 5 arachnids on the red planet in Far Cry
The photos of the spider-like spots naturally inspire the science fiction world.
- Ubisoft took advantage of this and released a DLC for Far Cry 5 on July 17, 2018.
- In Far Cry 5: Lost on Mars you fight against arachnoids on the red planet, you can use new weapons and unlock achievements.
