Spotify: The current track cannot be played - troubleshooting
There are various reasons for the error message "Current title cannot be played" on Spotify. In this article, we present the most common troubleshooting solutions.
Fix Spotify error on free account
Many users of a free account are struggling with the error message on Spotify and cannot play some or many tracks. If so, you should do the following:
- Click "Edit" and select "Settings".
- In the "Music Quality" area is the item "Streaming with high quality (premium only)". This can be activated by an error in some free accounts. Therefore deactivate this point.
- Then switch to the desired track and play it. If it still cannot be played, read on in the section below.
Premium account with Spotify error
The error can also occur with the premium account, so that some or many titles are no longer played. Here's what you can do:
- Select "Edit" and then click "Settings".
- Scroll to the "Local files" section. It says "Show titles from" and then you can see which other titles are shown in Spotify. You should deactivate all points, as it can happen that the error occurs for this reason.
- Then switch to playing. The title should now be playable. If not, follow the instructions in the next section.
What else helps to troubleshoot
If the "Current title cannot be played" problem persists, try the following options.
- Clear the cache at Spotify. We will show you how to do this here.
- Deactivate the item "Show unavailable tracks in playlists" in the "Display options" area in the settings.
- It should also be clear that titles can only be streamed with a stable internet connection. Make sure there are no problems here.
