Create SQL databases on Mac
Creating an SQL database on Mac has not been so easy for a long time. But with MySQL you can now generate your database in just a few steps.
SQL database on Mac - install MySQL
- Download the relevant package free of charge from the MySQL website. Make sure that "Mac OS X" is set and select the standard package (DMG) according to your processor.
- Install the file "mysql-standard-5.0.27-osx10.4-i686.pkg" - the name corresponds to your version.
- Install the other file "MySQLStartupItem.pkg" only if you want to activate the autostart.
- Double click on the "MySQL.prefPane" file and install it. This allows you to control the server manually under the system settings.
SQL database on Mac - Install CocoaMySQL
To be able to control the installed database, you need a database manager.
- Download CocoaMySQL.
- Install this program as usual.
- Now connect the manager to the database with the following parameters:
- Host: localhost
- User: root
- Password: leave open
If you want to create a MySQL database under Linux, you are often required to read long documentation. We have put together a compact guide on how to create a table and create a separate user for it.
