Repair SSD - how it works
If you have lost data on an SSD, you can easily restore it. You can read exactly how to repair the hard drive in this practical tip.
Repair or restore SSD with the free Recuva tool
The freeware Recuva allows you to quickly and easily restore lost files and even an entire hard drive:
- Download and install the free tool. Note: Do not install the tool on your SSD to avoid errors.
- Once the installation is complete, you can start the tool. A wizard will guide you through the recovery process.
- Click "Next" and select "Other" in the first step so that all file types are displayed.
- The next step is to specify where the file was lost. Since it is an SSD, you can specify the complete path with "At a specific location".
- Before the scan begins, you should click on the "Activate depth scan" option to ensure that all files are found. You can then start the scanning process with the "Start" button.
- Once the scan has been successfully completed, you will see the files found. Since the storage process for SSDs is different, select the "Advanced Settings" in the top right.
- The files with a colored dot in front of them follow. Files marked in red cannot be recovered, those marked in yellow may not be fully restored, and those marked in green can be restored without problems.
- Mark all files that can be restored and start the process with "Restore ...". Finally, enter the desired storage location for the data.
