Save still image from video - how it works
You can also extract and save individual images from videos. The free VLC media player is suitable for this.
Save still image from video with VLC
You can find the VLC player for free at CHIP Online for download.
- Now open the video with VLC from which you want to extract a still image.
- Rewind approximately to the appropriate point on the video You can then use the [E] key to move forward frame by frame more precisely.
- Now press the right mouse button and click on "Video" -> "Take a video snapshot". The screenshot now ends up in your Windows picture library by default.
- However, you can also set the target path yourself. To do this, open "Tools" -> "Settings" -> "Video". In the "Video Snapshots" submenu, you can enter any path under "Directory".
- You can also save the screenshot with one click. For this you have to activate the "Extended control" under "View". This causes an extra screenshot button to appear below the video (see picture).
