Boba Fett gets her own "Star Wars" film
According to Hollywood magazine The Wrap, the rumors circulating for months have now been confirmed unofficially: Boba Fett gets his own film. An official announcement from Disney is still pending.
Boba Fett's story is said to be the second film in the Anthology series of "Star Wars" and will be released in cinemas in 2018. The Wrap speaks of an origin story. There were also rumors earlier in the year that a film about the bounty hunter might shed light on one of his adventures between the events of Episode V and VI. But the former is more likely.
Boba Fett's story of origin as a film
The origin of Boba Fett has been known to fans of "Star Wars" since Episode II at the latest, in which he takes over the iconic helmet of his father Jango. Before that, he became famous for his relentless hunt for Han Solo in Episode V and VI.
There are many years between these events that provide material for the background story of the infamous villain. After all, you don't become the best bounty hunter in the galaxy overnight, personally interacting with Jabba the Hutt and Darth Vader.
Additional films planned for "Star Wars" anthology
While the new trilogy will continue to drive the core story of "Star Wars" - next in December with "The Force Awakens" - the anthology films tell independent side lines.
"Rogue One" should appear as the first spin-off in 2016. This film will be about the rebels who want to steal the Death Star's plans. As is unlikely to be emphasized, this is also an essential part of the first trilogy that opened with the consequences of this event.
No other Anthology films are known yet, but it is likely that it will not stay with the two previously known.
