Star Wars: The Old Republic - Bounty Hunter Class Guide
In "Star Wars: The Old Republic", the bounty hunter is a popular and extremely versatile class of the empire that can show off its strengths in a variety of ways. We explain the possibilities and differences in our guide.
SW: TOR - Basics about the bounty hunter
Star Wars: The Old Republic has many ways to become a successful bounty hunter. Some elements overlap and especially resource management always remains interesting.
- The bounty hunter and his two specializations "Mercenary" and "PowerTech" are excellent DPS classes, so they can do a lot of damage in a short time.
- At the same time, the mercenary is allowed to act as a healer, while the Power Tech can fill up excellently with its heavy shields.
- No matter how you specialize, you will always have to work with the heat costs of your skills. Unlike other classes, you have no specific energy quota that you can use. Instead, you collect heat up to a certain maximum.
- If the heat maximum is reached, only abilities that do not build up heat until some heat has been released can be used - this happens automatically over time.
- A few active skills or passive additional effects can also reduce heat. Such effects are usually worthwhile, so you should use them often.
- With heat management, you should make sure that heat dissipates faster if you have built up only a little: Up to 39 heat you dissipate 5 heat per second, up to 79 heat only 3 heat per second and over 80 heat then only 1 Heat per second. Therefore, try to build up as little heat as possible.
- The primary attribute of all bounty hunters is marksmanship: it increases all damage and healing abilities and should be your primary focus.
- Depending on the focus, you should put at least 31 points in one of the trees in your class, but more is usually not worth as much as additional skills from the other trees.
- As a tank or healer, the focus is obviously the tree in question, but for damage builds, you should consider whether you would rather shine against monsters or players.
- Against monsters, you can focus almost entirely on damage improvements, especially if you plan to be mostly on the team.
- Against other players, however, you should add some control skills to your skillset.
PowerTech bounty hunters in Star Wars: The Old Republic
PowerTechs can use their shielding skills to throw themselves in the middle of the fray, fill up well and attract attention even from a distance. They can also deal out damage properly. What is particularly striking is their ability to draw an opponent towards them.
- With the shield technology skill tree, you can easily fill up with almost anything in the game. You combine melee and ranged attacks, whereby the focus should be clearly on melee with skills such as rocket strike.
- Heat explosion comes very late, but is especially useful because of the heat discharge at the push of a button.
- If you want to throw yourself into hand-to-hand combat and deal damage there, the special prototype tree is worthwhile. Among other things, you unlock the new melee ability "retractable blade" that spreads your damage over time. This effect can be very useful in PvP.
- The arsonist tree is also a DPS tree. The final ability, thermal detector, is very strong, but is particularly suitable in duels because it hits only one target. The explosive arrows are often more worthwhile for groups at the same cost.
Mercenary bounty hunters in Star Wars: The Old Republic
Unlike PowerTech, mercenaries have to keep their opponents at a distance. These bounty hunters can heal themselves and others, but they can take less damage. But with their two blasters and countless rockets, they also cause tons of damage.
- Instead of drawing enemies towards you, as a mercenary you can distance your enemies and slow them down. He can also stun multiple enemies at once with his rockets.
- As a bodyguard, the mercenary becomes a healer who can compete with all other classes. However, you must note that they are not particularly mobile. Many healing skills take some time in which you are not allowed to move.
- In addition, because of the heat development, you cannot heal wildly like in other classes, but have to be careful not to get into the high heat levels. However, it helps that you can turn your blaster into a healing weapon. If you manage your resources properly, you can heal practically endlessly.
- The missile from the arsenal with its improvements is particularly valuable, on the one hand to reduce the armor of your opponent and at the same time to do more damage through heat signatures. As far as possible, you should keep these effects constantly on your target and use the ability accordingly accordingly.
- The arson tree is very similar to that of the PyroTech and can enable excellent synergies for the rail shot.
