In this practical tip we give you beginner tips for the pixel game Starbound. The game has not been on Steam for long, but is already very popular. For a good start, we give you the three most useful tips.
Beginners' tip for Starbound - Every start is difficult
After you have completed the first quests, you will surely ask yourself: What now? You could travel to other planets, kill the first end boss, or just search for minerals. At the beginning, concentrate on one goal:
- In the quest "First Contact" you should build a distress beacon. Once you have placed it, a spaceship appears: your first boss. Once you defeat it, you can visit better planets.
- To travel to other planets in the beginning, you need coal as fuel. On other planets you will find cities, temples or pirate ships, for example. So you can fill your inventory with rare items.
Second starbound tip - starvation comes quickly
In order to always have something edible in your inventory, you should go hunting regularly. But fields where you can plant seeds also serve as a source of food. The following should be noted when hunting:
- Any monster can drop "Raw Alien Meat". You can process this at the campfire in Essen.
- "Raw Alien Meat" will only be dropped if the monster was killed with a bow.
- Seeds only grow on plowed blocks. Use a hoe for this.
Third tip - How to build your dream home in Starbound
As in the Terraria game, you can mine blocks in Starbound and rebuild them elsewhere. This is a little different at Starbound:
- With the pickaxe that you can build at the beginning, you can mine up to six blocks at the same time.
- Use the pickaxe with the right click, do not dismantle the blocks but the wall behind them. If you want to place blocks again, you can also place walls with a right click.
- By default, you build four blocks at the same time. If you hold down the Shift key, you can also place individual blocks (see picture).
In general, at Starbound you should be careful about the planets, because the environment is very hostile. But if you have a well-developed base, not much should happen. If you are looking for even more tough bosses, try the similar game Terraria.
