Install and play Stardew Valley on Mac - Here's how
The extremely popular farm simulation Stardew Valley was basically only developed for Windows. But Mac users don't have to do without either: with a small additional tool, you can port the game and get it running on any Apple computer.
Mac: Install Wineskin Wrapper for Stardew Valley
First of all you need a modified version of the porting tool Wineskin, which has been specifically adapted to the game. You can download these here.
- Extract the ZIP file after the download and double-click on the contained file. If a warning message appears, you must allow the installation of non-verified software on your Mac.
- Select "Advanced" and go to the "Tools" tab. Here under "Utilities" click on "Winetricks".
- Open the point "dll" and check the following points:
- d3dx10, d3dx9, d3dx9_26, d3dx9_28, d3dx9_31, d3dx9_35, d3dx9_36, d3dx9_39, d3dx9_42, d3dx9_43, directx9, dotnet20sp2, dotnet40, msxml3, xna40
- Click on "Close" to close the window. Then switch to the "Configuration" tab.
- Here click on "Install Software"> "Choose Setup Executable".
- Then select the Steam setup file. You need the Windows version of Steam here, which you can download from our download area.
- Log in to Steam and download the game "Stardew Valley". Then start it.
- If the "Choose Executable" window opens, enter the path "Program Files / Steam / Steam.exe" here. You can close the wrapper tool.
- You can now play Stardew Valley by double-clicking the wrapper shortcut.
