How to start Chrome in incognito mode
Here's how to start Google's Chrome browser in incognito mode. The private browser mode protects your privacy and thereby increases data protection.
Incognito mode: change Chrome shortcut for more privacy
It is possible that you change the destination of the shortcut on your desktop so that the browser runs in incognito mode every time you double-click the Chrome icon. To do this, proceed as follows:
- Create a shortcut of "chrome.exe" (if not already available) on your desktop.
- Right click on the Chrome icon on your desktop to open the context menu and click on "Properties".
- Go to the "Shortcut" tab. There you will find the "Target:" section. Click on the area to the right to be able to edit the target.
- The target is in brackets "... \ Application \ chrome.exe". Now write --incognito after the brackets. ("... \ Application \ chrome.exe" --incognito). Finally click on "OK". If you double-click the Chrome shortcut, the browser opens in incognito mode.
Chrome incognito mode from the system tray
It's easy to pin Chrome to your taskbar. You do this like this:
- Drag the Chrome shortcut from your desktop to your taskbar (usually the bar at the bottom of your desktop).
- Right-click on the Chrome icon in the system tray. Under "Tasks" you will find the entry "New incognito window". Select this entry and the browser will open in incognito mode.
