Hide starter on Ubuntu - how it works
If you don't want to permanently see the starter on Ubuntu on the screen, you can find out how to hide it here.
Hide the starter on Ubuntu in three steps
Open the tab via the small gear on the top right and click on "System Settings":
- Tap the "Display" icon.
- Under the "Behavior" tab you will find all the settings for the starter.
- A click on "On" hides the starter immediately.
How to set when the starter should appear again
In the same interface, you can influence when the starter should appear again on request:
- You have the choice between a certain fade-in point in the corner of your screen or an entire page - depending on where you have positioned the starter.
- The fade-in sensitivity determines how quickly your cursor is recognized and the starter is faded in.
- If you are not satisfied with the settings, you can return to the original state via "Restore defaults".
The instructions refer to Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. Other versions differ slightly in design and behavior. In another practical tip, you will learn how you can work on several workstations under Ubuntu.
