Start menu: Integrate Google search engine
You can start the web search directly from a search engine from the start menu. For this you have to do a small manipulation in the registry of Windows 7. You can find the exact instructions here.
Web search from the start menu - how it works
- Click on "Start" and under "Programs"> "Search files" write the term "regedit". Windows presents the search result directly in the start menu.
- Under "Programs", right-click on "regedit.exe" and select the context command "Run as administrator". Authorize this instruction if necessary by selecting a user account with administrator rights and entering the corresponding password.
- In the left pane of the editor, navigate to the key "HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Policies \ Microsoft \ Windows \ Explorer".
- If the key does not exist, create it with "Edit"> "New"> "Key"> "Edit"> "New"> "DWORD value (32-bit)" and create the new entry "AddSearchInternetLinkInStartMenu",
- Then open it with a double click, set its "value" to "1" in the "Edit DWORD value (32-bit)" dialog and confirm with "OK".
Exit the registry editor and restart your system. If you search for a term in the start menu via "Programs"> "Search files", you will also find the link "Search Internet" in the results list. It starts your browser and searches for the search term using the standard search engine on the Internet.
