Change vacuum cleaner bag - how it works
Vacuum cleaners with the classic vacuum cleaner bags are still very popular, but you will also have to change them at some point. We'll show you how it's done and what you have to watch out for.
When to change the vacuum cleaner bag
- Wait until the bag is completely filled and inflated - the suction power then drops noticeably in most models.
- Even if the bag is not completely full, it is recommended to change it every four to eight weeks. Leftover food and microorganisms accumulate in the bag and decompose.
- At the latest when you notice a strange smell when sucking it is time to change. Even if the bag is not completely full, you should replace it every 8 weeks at the latest.
Instructions: Change vacuum cleaner bag
If you are changing a vacuum cleaner bag for the first time, you should do it outdoors if possible rather than in your own four walls. If the bag is hard, the fine dust likes to spread in the apartment and airways.
- First you have to open the vacuum cleaner housing. There is always a simple mechanism for this. With older devices, the hose may have to be removed for the time being.
- Now you can remove the bag. The procedure differs from device to device. Either you have to open a holder first or you can remove the bag directly from the device. Warning: If the bag cannot be removed, do not use force. Then it is better to take a look at the operating instructions first.
- Then dispose of the vacuum cleaner bag in the normal household waste. Do not squeeze the bag too hard so that the dust does not fly around your ears.
- Before you insert the new bag, you should check the filter. This is usually right in front of the bag. A rough cleaning of the filter is completely sufficient, but it is advisable to replace it after many years of use.
- Finally, insert the new bag as you removed the old one. The same applies here: do not use force. If you close the housing again, the vacuum cleaner is ready for use.
