Steam: Big Picture - what is it?
Especially the users of the beta versions of Steam should have noticed the Big Picture function for a long time. We'll tell you what's behind it.
Steam Big Picture - that's what mode can do
With the Steam Big Picture project, the manufacturer Valve is adapting its software so that you can also use Steam on your TV. Your PC will then become a gaming console like the PlayStation or Xbox.
- Use: The basic idea is that you connect your computer to your television using an HDMI cable. Then activate the Big Picture mode in Steam, Steam transforms optically and functionally into a game console.
- Surface: Steam has been adjusted in big picture mode so that you can ideally control Steam with a gamepad such as a PlayStation controller. All functions of the program can be used as usual, but browsing, writing and playing games is also ideally suited for use on the TV via controller.
- Activation: To activate Big Picture, simply click on the button of the same name in the top right of the window. If this is not visible, you have to activate the beta participation. To do this, open the "Settings" and select the "Change" button under the "Account" tab and the "Beta participation" category. Set the "Steam Beta Update" option here and restart the program.
